Christchurch has a railway station on the South West Main Line, with direct services to London Waterloo, Bournemouth, Poole, Southampton and Weymouth, and the station is a short walk from the town centre. By road, the A35 and A337 link the town to the surrounding area, and the M27/M3 corridor connects to London and the south east. Bournemouth Airport is a few miles west. Local buses serve the town and nearby districts, and the centre is compact enough to explore on foot. Cycling is popular on quieter routes, and the riverside paths are suitable for walking.
When to go
Late spring to early autumn is generally the most comfortable time to visit, with longer daylight hours and milder weather for walking and waterside activities.
