4- and 5-star hotels in Bideford
A shortlist of 5-star hotels in and around Bideford, gathered for travellers who want space, quiet and the North Devon coast on the doorstep. Some sit in the town itself; most are converted barns and cottages in the surrounding countryside.
Staying in Bideford
Bideford is a historic port town on the River Torridge, known for its 15th-century Long Bridge, its quay, and its position as a base for North Devon's beaches, villages and countryside. Shops, markets and eateries fill the town, the riverbank and the traffic-free Tarka Trail give walkers and cyclists somewhere to go, and boat trips to Lundy Island leave from the area. Sandy beaches and rugged cliffs are close by, with Westward Ho! a short drive away. The hotels here are spread out rather than clustered. The barns at High Park House sit about 0.9 km from the centre, Montgomery Barn, Hastings Barn, Sheldon Barn and Molesworth Barn among them. Apartment 11 Latitude 51 is at Westward Ho, about 3.4 km away, close to the sea. Downe Cottages, near Hartland, is 18.4 km away. Couples, families and groups of friends will find the self-catering space useful; anyone wanting to step out to shops and restaurants should look at the High Park House barns.
